Honor Societies
National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) are organizations established to recognize outstanding high school and middle school students. More than just an honor roll, our chapters of NHS and NJHS serve to recognize those students who demonstrate excellence in four distinct areas: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.
At InterAmerican Academy, our Honor Society chapters focuses heavily upon providing service opportunities for secondary students. Recent projects have included active Saturdays filled with building houses with Habitat del Ecuador, school wide recycling initiative, annual blood drives, food and toy drives for our maintenance staff, and an English Camp for local students, to name a few. Additionally, each member provides 45 minutes of one-to-one tutoring each week to elementary students within our school.
Membership in the organization is exclusive and students are selected through a multi-step process. In order to attain membership, students must meet certain academic requirements, complete an application and a reflective essay, receive a faculty recommendation, and finally be invited to participate in a panel interview.
